Discovery of Small Anti‐ACE2 Peptides to Inhibit SARS‐CoV‐2 Infectivity (Adv. Therap. 7/2021)

چکیده
SARS-CoV-2 infects human cells by binding its spike protein to the ACE2 receptor. Using a peptide biopanning strategy, authors have discovered small anti-ACE2 peptides that can effectively block SARS-CoV-2/ACE2 interaction. The be potentially used as prophylactic or therapeutic agents for and other ACE2-mediated viruses. This is reported Kun Cheng co-workers in article number 2100087.

Discovery of Small Molecules that Inhibit the Disordered Protein, p27Kip1
Disordered proteins are highly prevalent in biological systems, they control myriad signaling and regulatory processes, and their levels and/or cellular localization are often altered in human disease. In contrast to folded proteins, disordered proteins, due to conformational heterogeneity and dynamics, are not considered viable drug targets. We challenged this paradigm by identifying through N...
متن کاملThe discovery of small-molecule mimicking peptides through phage display.
Using peptides to achieve the functional and structural mimicry of small-molecules, especially those with biological activity or clear biotechnological applications, has great potential in overcoming difficulties associated with synthesis, or unfavorable physical properties. Combinatorial techniques like phage display can aid in the discovery of these peptides even if their mechanism of mimicry...
متن کاملA novel medium-throughput biological assay system for HTLV-1 infectivity and drug discovery
Objective(s): Here, a reporter cell line containing two reporter vectors were developed, in order to monitor the Human T-Lymphotropic Virus type1(HTLV-1) infectivity and the cell viability simultaneously. Materials and Methods: The reporter cell line was constructed by stably transfected baby hamster's kidney cell line (BHK-21), with the genomes expressing two different reporters in separate pl...
متن کاملDiscovery of PTPRJ agonist peptides that effectively inhibit in vitro cancer cell proliferation and tube formation.
PTPRJ is a receptor protein tyrosine phosphatase involved in both physiological and oncogenic pathways. We previously reported that its expression is strongly reduced in the majority of explored cancer cell lines and tumor samples; moreover, its restoration blocks in vitro cancer cell proliferation and in vivo tumor formation. By means of a phage display library screening, we recently identifie...
متن کاملIdentification of linear heparin-binding peptides derived from human respiratory syncytial virus fusion glycoprotein that inhibit infectivity.
It has been shown previously that the fusion glycoprotein of human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV-F) interacts with cellular heparan sulfate. Synthetic overlapping peptides derived from the F-protein sequence of RSV subtype A (strain A2) were tested for their ability to bind heparin using heparin-agarose affinity chromatography (HAAC). This evaluation identified 15 peptides representing eight...
